Samantha Irvin’s sudden departure from WWE shook the wrestling world, but she’s not letting the backlash faze her. After revealing she left the company to pursue bigger aspirations, Irvin faced criticism from fans who weren’t happy about her decision—or her low Spotify stats.
Irvin, who announced for WWE until her recent exit, has been open about her dislike for the role. “I don’t like announcing,” she admitted, explaining that it was intended to be her foot in the door to explore roles like managing talent or becoming a General Manager. “Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer.”
Despite clarifying her love for WWE and wrestling, she faced harsh backlash online. Irvin recently took to Twitter to call out her critics, writing, “Me using this app makes people so mad and I love love love love it.”
One hater took things further, mocking Irvin’s 324 monthly Spotify listeners and comparing it to the audience size for her husband Ricochet’s AEW matches. “You have less monthly listeners than the number of people who go to watch your husband wrestle,” they wrote.
Irvin, known for her quick wit, fired back with humor. “Oh that really hurts that no one is listening to my song from 5 years ago damn it I really thought it would have caught on by now FML,” she joked, turning the insult into a lighthearted moment.
Irvin’s decision to leave WWE was not made lightly. She has made it clear that focusing on her music career and personal goals is her priority now, and she’s unbothered by the noise.
