The SmackDown women’s division is getting a new prize to fight for, as a new Women’s United States Title is coming. This is a long time coming for them, and now we have even more momentum in the tournament that will determine the inaugural champion. The finals set to go down at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 14.
During the November 22 WWE SmackDown, Bianca Belair vs. Chelsea Green vs. Blair Davenport went down as all three competitors battled to move forward in the WWE Women’s United States Title tournament. This was a huge opportunity for all three of them, and fans in Salt Lake City’s Delta Center were pumped for the contest.
This match was the opening contest of this week’s episode, right after Solo Sikoa and his new Bloodline had a short promo where they called out Roman Reigns. Each competitor received an entrance on television, with Belair, Davenport, and Green coming out in that order.
The match started off with some quick pinning attempts. Then they were able to get Davenport out of the ring, which allowed Belair and Green to battle on their own for a bit. Blair Davenport showed some innovative offense as she tied Belair’s hair to the top rope and then landed a stomp off the top rope on the apron before they went to another commercial break.
Green nailed a Rough Ryder on Bianca Belair, which had to make her husband, Matt Cardona, proud. They continued on, but Green was unable to get the pinfall as Blair Davenport broke up the pinfall attempt. Then Green tried for an Unprettier, but Davenport blocked it.
Bianca Belair nailed a double German Suplex on both of her competitors, but she couldn’t secure the pinfall. They kept battling in a back-and-forth contest and then Green moved out of the corner so Belair took the ring post to her shoulder, which sent 1/2 of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions to the floor.
Suddenly, Green nailed Davenport with a Superplex, but Belair hit a splash for a pinfall attempt. Green threw Belair out of the ring and tried to steal a pin, but she couldn’t get it. Then they showed backstage footage on the big screen of Jade Cargill laid out on the hood of a car in the parking lot. This caused Belair to run off to check on her partner, leaving Chelsea Green and Blair Davenport alone in the ring to continue.
In the end, Chelsea Green hit the Unprettier to secure the win. Now, she will move on in the Women’s United States Title tournament.
The brackets for the WWE Women’s United States Tournament actually revealed a bit of a spoiler regarding Naomi’s championship contest against Nia Jax. In the end, the company gave fans those brackets before that title match, even though they considered holding them back to save a spoiler.
Bayley was the first to advance in the Women’s United States Title Tournament. She defeated Candice LeRae and B-Fab during the November 15 episode of SmackDown. Now, we have another name that will move on in the tournament.
