Former ROH star Cheeseburger is all smiles despite getting manhandled by Bobby Lashley during Lashley’s dominant in-ring AEW debut on November 20. Facing off in a handicap match alongside Joe Keys, Cheeseburger got hit with the first Dominator Lashley’s delivered in years, while Keys was left tapping out to the Hurt Lock.
Speaking on Overbooked’s Coexisting, Cheeseburger had nothing but respect—and a few laughs—about the beating he endured. “He is an insanely strong human being. He is a mountain of muscle. Extremely terrifying man,” he shared. Lucky for Cheeseburger, he avoided Lashley’s infamous Hurt Lock. “Thankfully, I didn’t get put in the Hurt Lock like my partner, Joe Keys. I got the Dominator… and I had to be the victim of it.”
Despite the battering, Cheeseburger took a moment to soak in the special vibes of performing in Pennsylvania, a state with deep Ring of Honor roots. “It was awesome. I’ve worked in that area a lot… and obviously Ring of Honor having its roots in Pennsylvania and Philadelphia… it was really cool that people there… I never expect people to know who I am at all. So to come out and get that reaction was amazing,” he said.
Known for his colorful persona, Cheeseburger also revealed the thought behind his eye-catching gear, designed to grab the crowd’s attention. “I made the conscious decision to wear that sparkly green-and-black set with a giant Cheeseburger on it… it just kind of draws people’s attention.”
Currently active on the indie scene, Cheeseburger continues to wrestle for promotions like RevPro, proving he’s still serving up his signature flavor in the ring.
