Wrestling icon and horror aficionado CM Punk is stepping into the supernatural with a recurring role in Syfy’s upcoming series Revival, according to Variety.

The show, based on the acclaimed Image Comics series by Tim Seeley and Mike Norton, is currently filming in New Brunswick, Canada.

Punk is joining a star-studded cast that includes Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, David James Elliott, Andy McQueen, and The Walking Dead alum Steven Ogg. Details about Punk’s character are being kept tightly under wraps, adding to the mystery surrounding the project.

According to the show’s official synopsis, Revival is no ordinary undead story. Set in rural Wisconsin, the dead inexplicably rise on a miraculous day—but instead of brain-eating zombies, the “revived” seem eerily normal. Local officer and single mom Dana Cypress, played by Scrofano, finds herself at the center of a brutal murder investigation in a town full of secrets, where no one—living or dead—is above suspicion.

This isn’t Punk’s first foray into acting. Fans may recognize him as Ricky Rabies in Starz’s pro wrestling drama Heels or from his appearances in FX’s Mayans MC. Punk has also made a name for himself in horror films, starring in The Girl on the Third Floor and Jakob’s Wife. He’s also set to appear in the upcoming comedy-horror Night Patrol alongside Jermaine Fowler and Justin Long.

Punk’s journey from wrestling rings to TV screens continues to turn heads. A diehard comic book fan, he’s no stranger to Revival’s source material, making this project a perfect fit for the multi-talented star.

The series is developed for TV by Aaron B. Koontz and Luke Boyce, who also serve as executive producers and showrunners. With Revival slated to deliver a fresh, spine-chilling take on the undead, fans are already buzzing about Punk’s addition to the mix.

With Revival shaping up to be one of Syfy’s most intriguing offerings, how do you think CM Punk will fare in his mysterious role? Are you excited to see him dive deeper into the world of horror? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
