The Rated-R Superstar’s legacy is staying locked down—literally. WWE has officially filed a new trademark for the name “Edge,” the iconic moniker used by Adam Copeland throughout his legendary WWE career.

The trademark filing describes its use as covering “wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered through broadcast media including television and via the internet or commercial online service,” as well as “providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network.”

Fans will recall that Edge’s WWE journey came to an emotional end in August 2023, with his final match being a gritty showdown against Sheamus. After his contract expired, Copeland made a major leap by signing with AEW, where he’s been continuing his wrestling journey under his real name.

Currently sidelined with an injury, Copeland hasn’t been in action lately, but the timing of WWE’s trademark filing is sure to raise eyebrows. With WWE securing the rights to “Edge,” it seems the company is intent on preserving the name that helped shape Copeland’s Hall of Fame-worthy career.

The move has sparked plenty of speculation online, with some fans wondering if WWE is protecting its brand or setting up something bigger down the line. Could this be a subtle dig at Copeland’s AEW signing, or just a routine business move?
