WWE has made a quiet but significant change to the October 21 episode of Monday Night Raw on Peacock, removing a controversial comment made by Carlito.

During the original airing, Carlito entered Adam Pearce’s office after Kairi Sane and IYO SKY left the room and quipped, “I gotta learn Chinese.” The comment sparked backlash as both Sane and SKY are Japanese, with fans criticizing the insensitivity of the remark.

In the Peacock version of the episode, WWE edited the segment to remove the line. Fans now see a close-up of Pearce as Damage CTRL walks out and Carlito enters the frame, with Carlito’s hair visible but his dialogue omitted. The segment resumes with Pearce asking Carlito what he wants, avoiding the controversial remark altogether.

The comment was reportedly not scripted, according to sources within WWE. One staff member described being in “disbelief” that the line was said, noting that it wasn’t part of the planned segment.

Internally, the situation caused concern, especially considering IYO SKY’s past experiences with offensive comments from audience members, including “go back to China” taunts. While there’s no word on disciplinary action or heat on Carlito, the decision to remove the line from streaming platforms suggests WWE is taking the matter seriously.

Fans on social media have expressed mixed reactions, with some criticizing the remark as tone-deaf and others questioning why it wasn’t addressed immediately during production. WWE has remained tight-lipped about the incident, leaving many to speculate whether this will impact Carlito’s role moving forward.
