AEW World Champion Jon Moxley isn’t just playing a role on TV—he’s bringing his real-life beliefs into the ring. As the leader of the Death Riders stable, Moxley has been on a mission to “take over” AEW since his return following All In. But behind the storyline lies a deeper motivation: Moxley wants to elevate AEW’s original stars and reshape the company’s future.
Speaking to TV Insider, Moxley shared his candid thoughts on AEW’s current state and how his in-ring persona aligns with his personal mission.
Moxley made it clear that his on-screen actions are fueled by genuine passion for the promotion. “It’s very real,” he said. “I’ve never been much of a putting-on-act kind of wrestler. Everything is always informed by where I’m at in real life outside the ring.”
For Moxley, there’s no room for wasting time. “At this point when it comes to my career and life, I just have no time for b*llshit anymore. I don’t have time to beat around the bush,” he explained.
He also noted that his sentiments are widely shared among the AEW roster. “I’m not necessarily alone in my thoughts and feelings. My feelings and motivations are quite ubiquitous throughout AEW. I’m just the one verbalizing it and getting to move it into action. Though I can’t do it by myself.”
Under Moxley’s leadership, the Death Riders stable—featuring Marina Shafir, PAC, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta—has gained significant momentum. With PAC, Claudio, and Yuta holding the AEW World Trios Championship, the group is solidifying its dominance.
Moxley’s next challenge will be defending the AEW World Championship against Orange Cassidy at AEW Full Gear. As the rivalry heats up, fans are eager to see how Moxley’s real-life mission to improve AEW translates to his in-ring performance.
