WWE has signed several impressive names for NXT’s women’s division in recent memory, and that roster exploded with the additions of Stephanie Vaquer, ZARIA, and Giulia. Each of those women had to relocate to the United States to start their WWE journeys, a move that can be a daunting task at times.
Giulia quickly established herself as a major force in NXT after debuting at NXT No Mercy. She confronted NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez, making her intentions clear that she aims to be a top contender.
Before joining NXT, Giulia built a strong reputation in Japan, winning the World of Stardom Championship and Wonder of Stardom Championship, and competing at NJPW events and for Marigold. That transition to the United States was one that many fans wanted to see for her, but it has been difficult.
While speaking with Bully Ray on Busted Open After Dark, Giulia shared her perspective on the differences between wrestling in Japan and America. Although it’s been a struggle, she seems to enjoy the challenge.
“I’ve very difficult to me, so hard, but I like it. I’m improving at wrestling. In Japan, it’s very different. Here, the TV show (is very important). [In Japan], there is no TV program. The audience is also different. The Japanese audience is quiet. They are respectful and serious. American (fans) are more enjoyable, entertaining, and exciting.”
When asked if she enjoys the entertainment aspect of wrestling, Giulia responded enthusiastically. “Of course,” she said, adding that she loves America.
Giulia’s next challenge will be against Kelani Jordan in an Iron Survivor Challenge Qualifier on the November 26 episode of NXT. Fans will be watching to see how she continues to adapt and perform in her new environment. It is expected that Giulia will be in the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge match at Deadline on December 7, but you never know what can happen in WWE.
We will have to see how Giulia fits into the groove of things in NXT, but she’s had a great start already. Only time will tell how far she will go, because a lot of fans are hoping to see a title around her waist soon enough.
