The WWE Universe was left with questions after Odyssey Jones suddenly vanished from The New Day’s storyline involving Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods. Now, Kofi Kingston is opening up about how he and Woods navigated that abrupt change.
During an interview with the New York Post, Kingston explained how the team had to adapt after Jones’ removal.
“One of the main lessons that I’ve learned is that you never know what tomorrow is going to bring with WWE,” Kingston said. “You always have to be ready to adjust at the drop of a hat.”
Jones’ involvement had added an intriguing twist to the story, creating tension between Kingston—who welcomed Jones with open arms—and Woods, who was more skeptical. The storyline even featured Karrion Kross stoking the drama by implying that Kingston was trying to replace Big E. But just as quickly as he appeared, Jones was pulled from the narrative and hasn’t been seen on TV since.
Kingston emphasized that adapting is part of surviving in WWE. “Once Odyssey [Jones] was out of the mix, we just had to figure out a way to pivot and keep the story going and keep on moving forward, because, as they say, the show must go on,” he said. “And you figure out the best ways to adjust.”
Despite Jones’ sudden exit, Kingston and Woods have managed to keep the storyline compelling, showcasing their resilience and ability to roll with WWE’s ever-changing creative landscape.
