CM Punk’s debut in AEW in 2021 was a big moment, showing how important he was to the company. While he found success, it eventually turned sour and several incidents led to his eventual firing from the company. Punk faced off against numerous foes in AEW but he has now admitted that he felt he wasted some matches on some talent in AEW.

The Second City Saint won the AEW World Championship and competed against quite a few solid opponents during his time in the company, including the likes of Jon Moxley, Adam Page, Darby Allin and many more. Of course, the quality of his matches varied depending on his opponents and not all of them received praise. This includes his match against Bobby Fish, which many fans felt was Punk’s worst match in AEW.

While speaking on the Cheap Heat Podcast with Peter Rosenberg, CM Punk was asked if there was anyone in AEW he wished he had a chance to work with on a storyline. He replied that there wasn’t anyone he felt he missed out on but admitted he felt he wasted some matches on certain people. He added that some understand the wrestling business while others don’t but believes everyone in his current environment does.

“No. I feel like I wasted some matches on some people, for sure. That is what it is. Some people understand the business and some people don’t. I think everybody here understands the business.”

With that said, CM Punk wasn’t a fan of AEW airing the All In backstage footage and also revealed why he still supports AEW despite his controversial departure. Regardless, The Second City Saint has put AEW behind him and he wouldn’t want it any other way now, especially after this revelation.
