AEW is making a major move by bringing AEW Revolution to Los Angeles’ iconic Crypto.com Arena (formerly the Staples Center) on March 9, 2025. This marks the first time the company will host an event at the legendary venue, and while it’s big news for wrestling fans, not everyone is thrilled with how it played out.

According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, AEW’s announcement came shortly after WWE opted to move its own event from Crypto.com Arena to the Intuit Dome for an upcoming Raw on Netflix.

Sources close to the situation revealed that the venue’s exclusivity agreement with WWE was a longstanding arrangement. However, WWE’s decision to switch venues ruffled some feathers at Crypto.com Arena.

One source said they were pleased when AEW stepped in, mentioning, “It rubbed them the wrong way that WWE switched venues, and they were happy AEW quickly announced their PPV after WWE’s Intuit Dome announcement.”

The source also pointed out how, years ago, WWE booked the arena on short notice during a scheduling conflict with Pepsi Arena in Denver, showing how deep their ties once ran.

AEW’s move into Crypto.com Arena comes as part of a broader expansion that includes running events at new and more intimate venues. In 2025, fans can look forward to shows at Oceanside’s Frontwave Arena and Knoxville Coliseum, among others. Meanwhile, the company is scaling down in some markets, moving from larger venues like the Yum Center in Louisville to the smaller Broadbent Arena.

Adding to the excitement, AEW announced a three-night stay at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom for ROH Final Battle, Collision, and Dynamite tapings just before Christmas. This shift is designed to ease travel for talent and staff during the holiday season.

As AEW continues to make big moves, their entry into Crypto.com Arena and WWE’s change of plans have sparked plenty of chatter among insiders and fans alike.
