Rey Mysterio Mourns the Passing of His Father in Heartfelt Tribute

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio is mourning a tremendous loss. The wrestling icon took to Instagram to share the devastating news of his father, Roberto Gutierrez’s, passing on November 17, 2024. In an emotional post, Mysterio expressed deep gratitude and love for the man who shaped his life and legacy.

“Father: thank you for giving me the life I have. You did more than set the example of how to love & maintain a strong marriage and father 4 boys, you were the example and passed every single time until your death with flying colors,” Mysterio began his touching tribute.

The 49-year-old wrestling star, known for his high-flying moves and larger-than-life persona, peeled back the curtain to reveal the man behind the mask. He described his father as an “excellent husband, loving father, beautiful grandfather, incredible son & brother, and amazing father-in-law.” Mysterio’s heartfelt words painted a picture of a man who ticked all the boxes and instilled in him the values that carried him through life and his career.

“You fought until the very last minute and know that your biggest fear was leaving Moms behind, but I can assure you that she will not be alone and we will always look out for her,” Mysterio reassured, promising to honor his father’s legacy by supporting his mother.
