The Street Profits, consisting of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, worked hard to become a key part of WWE’s tag team division. However, Ford has expressed frustration with his booking in WWE, leading some to believe that the company may have hurt his career by holding back on giving him a stronger push.
Monez Ford also previously stated that he wants to become WWE Champion if The Street Profits break up. The Rock also gave Montez very encouraging message in the past that helped his confidence in a big way. In fact, Montez Ford recently hinted at pursuing a solo career while he expressed frustration over The Street Profits’ current booking in the company.
While speaking on Sportskeeda’s Wrestling’s SmackTalk show, Dutch Mantel shared his thoughts on Montez Ford’s situation, saying that WWE unintentionally hurt the 34-year-old fan-favorite star by holding back his push for too long. Mantel believes that instead of fully committing to Ford’s push, WWE kept hesitating, which he feels is worse than doing nothing at all. He explained that this indecision has worn down Ford’s momentum, making him less “heated up” now compared to a year ago.
“What they have done, they’ve almost held back the turn of Montez Ford so long, I think they kinda hurt him unintentionally. I think instead of, you know pulling the trigger on him and letting him go, they kept saying ‘eh, I don’t know,’ which is actually worse than not doing anything. Because you wear the people down just by the time you spend doing nothing with ’em. I don’t think they’re anywhere near as heated up as he were, say a year ago.”
The Street Profits also failed to win the WWE Tag Team Titles during the November 15 WWE SmackDown after Tommaso Ciampa interfered in the match and attacked Montez Ford. Regardless, only time will tell whether WWE will ever push Montez Ford as a singles star, as it might be too late now.
