Samantha Irvin’s unexpected exit from WWE before a recent Monday Night RAW surprised many in the wrestling world. She admitted that she never truly enjoyed being an announcer in WWE, which led to some criticism. Irvin has since addressed the claims that she burned all her bridges with the company.
Samantha Irvin recently admitted that she never liked announcing in WWE and that she wanted to do more in the company, such as managing or becoming the General Manager for a brand.
“I don’t like announcing. I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action, but I don’t love being an announcer.”
Samantha Irvin’s comments about not enjoying her role as an announcer in WWE upset many fans. Some criticized her for speaking out against the company and called her pathetic. There were also speculations that she didn’t like wrestling at all, which led to even more negative reactions. Irvin later clarified that she loves WWE and wrestling in general, but simply didn’t enjoy her announcer role. Her honest remarks sparked backlash from some fans who felt she was ungrateful for the opportunity WWE gave her.
Recently, a fan took to Twitter and asked Samantha Irvin whether she and Ricochet calmed down and were down burning bridges after leaving WWE, saying, “Did you and your partner now calm down after burning all the bridges or should we expect some more mental breakdowns?”
Samantha Irvin saw what the fan had to say and wasted no time in giving an appropriate response, as she stated that she even asked Grok what supposedly bad things she said about WWE after her exit, as she had no idea what everyone was talking about, saying, “So funny I asked Grok today what bad thing I said about WWE since I have no idea what everyone is talking about”
Another fan chimed in and pointed out the backlash started after she said she didn’t like announcing. In response, Irvin explained that if people didn’t understand how she tried to bring some of Robin Williams’ style to her announcing to make it enjoyable for herself, then they weren’t really seeing who she was—they were just seeing an announcer. She acknowledged that she could understand why some people might be offended by her dislike of memorizing stats and reciting match rules on live TV.
The backlash, she said, showed her that it wasn’t her personality they liked, which she had already suspected. However, she mentioned that the people who truly enjoyed her performance were being very supportive about her decision to step away from announcing, allowing her to focus on her true passion—making art and performing.

The backlash showed me that it wasn’t me they liked all along (which I already knew). Now the people that really enjoyed MY PERFORMANCE are being super cool about me not really digging the career path of an announcer and sticking to what my career has been all along, making art and performing”
It was reported that many in WWE were upset over Samantha Irvin’s comments following her departure. Since she was no longer with the company, they couldn’t force her to remove them. Irvin’s decision to leave WWE had been something she’d been thinking about for a long time, as she now wants to focus on her music career. Despite the criticism she’s received, her supporters are rooting for her success, and Irvin doesn’t let the opinions of her haters bother her.
