TNA standout Josh Alexander dropped a bombshell earlier today that has the wrestling world talking. During Northern Crown Wrestling’s event at Blood Brothers Brewery in Toronto on November 17, 2024, the former TNA World Champion made a big announcement—he’s stepping back from the indie scene starting in 2025. The news was first broken by @BroodEdge on Twitter, saying, “Josh Alexander has announced that he is no longer doing independent shows starting in 2025.”

Following the event, Alexander himself took to Twitter to explain his decision. In a heartfelt message, he wrote:

“Regardless of what may or may not be in my future. After talking with my family, I’ve made the decision to stop taking Indie dates.

I’ve loved my time in the independents these past 20 years. I’ve done amazing things, worked with amazing people, and got to travel the world performing in front of amazing fans. That being said, I’m tired of the hustle. It’s time for the next crop to step up and fill whatever void I may leave behind in the Canadian scene.”

I have faith because of promotions like @NorthernCrown
in Toronto, because of wrestlers like @FuerzaLives, new Northern Crown Champion @VaughnVertigo and countless others.”

Alexander’s message reflected not only his gratitude for his indie wrestling roots but also an acknowledgment of the new generation of wrestlers who are ready to carry the torch. He showed faith in up-and-coming talent and praised promotions like Northern Crown Wrestling in Toronto and emerging stars like Fuerza and new Northern Crown Champion Vaughn Vertigo.

“Please support the Indies. Support the wrestlers grinding. They aren’t fueled by money, only a rabid passion or addiction and love for pro wrestling,” he added.

The 19-year wrestling veteran, who has fought over 1,500 matches and built a reputation as one of TNA’s most reliable stars, has been candid about exploring new horizons as his contract approaches its end. This recent decision might be a step in that direction.

Wrapping up his emotional post, Alexander expressed deep gratitude to every promotion, wrestler, and fan who has been part of his journey:

“All I ever did was follow my heart. Driving cars into the ground, barely able to afford to eat or pay my bills just so I could get to a show and wrestle every weekend was tough but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I’ve met and made lifelong friends. Found my wife along the way and built a life and family to support me for whatever lies ahead. Thank you to every promotion that booked me (whatever you paid me helped me keep a roof over my family’s head more than you know). Every wrestler that worked with me (I learned so much from every match along the way) and every fan that showed support (you kept me going in times when I felt like giving up). It’s not goodbye. It’s just see you later.”

Now, with indie wrestling in his rearview mirror, fans are left wondering what’s next for “The Walking Weapon.” Will he pursue new ventures, explore bigger opportunities, or focus on life outside the ring? Only time will tell.
