GCW’s NGI9 went down in Orlando, Florida on Saturday night. John Wayne Murdoch participated but lost in the first round to Sawyer Wreck. However, that wasn’t the only altercation involving Murdoch that night. Former WWE referee and DeathMatch wrestler Drake Wuertz, now known as Drake Younger, claims he got a piece of Murdoch in the parking lot after the event.
Drake Wuertz was not part of the show and has no connection to GCW. In a Facebook video, he claimed to have confronted John Wayne Murdoch, saying he “got in JWM’s face” and “gave him a couple two piece and a biscuit.” Drake said Murdoch wouldn’t stop mentioning his name and stated, “I’m sorry it had to happen, but I’m not going to be pushed around anymore.”
In the video, Drake appeared to be sweating and breathing heavily while pacing outside. He praised Murdoch’s talent but called him a “little bitch” and said the situation “had to get handled old school, tonight.” Drake spoke for six minutes, explaining he dealt with the issue privately, away from the crowd. He apologized to Parrow, Brett Lauderdale, Mance Warner, and Jimmy Lloyd, saying it “had to happen.”
Early this morning, DeathMatch legend Necro Butcher, real name D.K. Summers, posted on Facebook thanking Drake.
“Thank you, Drake Wuertz. I can think of no other wrestler who has taken more money from other wrestlers’ families than that guy. Not to mention how many guys he has sent to the hospital. It needed done a long time ago. It’s just a sign of the morally corrupt world we live in that he even exists in our business. Thank you. I love you.”
In the comments, Necro added that he didn’t mention one wrestler’s name, but they are spreading lies about others. It seems that there is a lot more going on beneath the surface.
“There’s a wrestler whose name I don’t mention, because that’s what he wants. That spreads lies about other wrestlers, contacts promoters and offers to wrestle cheaper than the competition, refuses to appear on cards with people he has lied about, seriously injured other young wrestlers just to get himself over, has a fixation with exaggerating about and making jokes about others’ personal problems, and is basically a rotten person. All to protect his position on the card. Drake finally got tired of his shit. Long overdue.”
Murdoch responded in a private Facebook group, saying that people can believe whatever narrative they wish. The fact is that he is sticking to his story that it did not happen.
“You can believe what you want, but this didn’t happen! Attacking someone from behind is bitch behavior. I eat his punches like candy and told him that and went out and did my job. Also, while I was on the phone with my GF and son, so yea the meth head is a real tough guy.”
Drake also challenged Joey Janela, offering to fight him on camera for charity and letting Janela pick the date. Janela has not responded, but the two do have an interesting history that could warrant a pro wrestling angle.
After the altercation, Drake Younger posted a photo on Instagram eating Popeyes chicken and biscuits, but his account has since been deleted. We will have to see what happens next, but only time will tell how this situation escalates.
Drake Younger generated a ton of controversy during his days as a WWE NXT referee. He was associated in Q-Anon beliefs and was often the target of criticism for his political activities. He was also suspended from the WWE Performance Center due to a variety of issues.
