AEW has a lot of fans who pay close attention to everything that the company tweets out. This is especially true when you’re talking about birthday greetings. After a botched attempt to wish the wrong Mercedes a happy birthday, the company finally got it right. Still, fans chimed in to drag them in brutal fashion.
November 17 is Mercedes Martinez’s birthday, but AEW mistakenly wished Mercedes Mone a happy birthday instead. This was noticed by fans, and they were brutal with their responses. Mercedes Mone has also commented on this mishap, as she turned it into a chance to proclaim how much love she gets around every corner.
Hours later, AEW finally posted a happy birthday greeting for Mercedes Martinez. This came a lot later than the post they have queued up for The CEO, and fans were ready to pounce on the post.
WrestleRoller tweeted out that it took long enough for AEW to send out the current tweet. Many people agreed with this critical post toward AEW. Inkling Mario posted to say, “Better late then never I guess lol.”
Many more fans posted just to laugh at the AEW post, because it did take several hours for them to get that corrected post out. Some also shared screenshots of the now-deleted tweet where AEW mistook Mercedes Mone for Mercedes Martinez.
Off The Top Rope Media posted to say that the second time was the charm with this tweet. Obviously, a lot of fans were having fun at AEW’s expense after this tweet went live. The important part is that AEW fixed their mistake, but it may be hard to live this one down.
You may check out a few of the responses to AEW below. We will have to see what the company does next to draw attention to themselves, negative or otherwise. In the meantime, we would like to wish Mercedes Martinez a very happy birthday.
