Mercedes Mone has made a significant impact on AEW since joining, quickly establishing herself as a key figure in the promotion. AEW always makes it a point to wish their talent on their birthday but it appears that the company has committed a massive blunder by mixing up Mercedes Martinez’s birthday with Mercedes Mone.
As for Mercedes Mone possibly being the highest paid women’s wrestler in the world right now, the CEO of AEW made it clear that she feels she more than deserves this privilege and that people should always acknowledge her contributions to the business.
AEW took to Twitter today and decided to wish Mercedes Mone a happy birthday. However, Mercedes Mone’s birthday is on January 26, 1992 and not November 17th. The company committed a huge blunder as they mixed up Mone’s birthday with Mercedes Martinez, whose actual birthday is on November 17th.
Fans obviously noticed this huge blunder on AEW’s part and criticized the company for the same, as one fan pointed out, “it’s not her birthday, tubby.” Another fan couldn’t believe AEW didn’t delete the post after an hour, “There’s no way this tweet is still up an hour later…” Yet another fan simply asked what was wrong with AEW’s official account, “What is wrong with this account it’s not her birthday,” as it was clear fans were shocked by AEW’s mistake.
The TBS Champion as well as the NJPW Women’s STRONG Champion will continue to be a highlight of AEW television, but it’s simply unfortunate that AEW would commit a blunder such as this considering the fact Mone is such a big star in the company. Regardless, we do hope AEW never makes such a mistake ever again for their own sake.
