The Bullet Club was one of the hottest acts in professionanl wrestling at one point in time and they made headlines when they invaded an episode of Monday Night RAW several yeras ago and Marty Scurll has now revealed Triple H’s reaction to the invasion.

Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, Adam “Hangman” Page and Marty Scurll with Brandi Rhodes appeared outside the arena for Monday’s RAW in Ontario, California back in September 2017 and it was something that was planned months in advance as well.

While speaking on That’s Wrestling, Marty Scurll talked about The Bullet Club invading RAW. He mentioned that the idea was initially suggested by The Young Bucks because they thought it would be funny. At first, some people criticized it, comparing it to WCW’s tactics or saying it was just a rip-off of DX. But the Bucks were deliberately doing a parody, and they were all on board with it. Scurll remembers how the Bucks came up with the plan and how everyone was excited to make it happen.

They had to travel a long distance, and Scurll recalled flying in, hiring a limo, and driving through the mountains with Cody and Brandi to get to the location. The Bucks were confident, and Hangman Page was all in, but Cody was a bit more cautious, wanting to know the details before proceeding. He didn’t want to cause any trouble with WWE, and neither did Scurll, who figured WWE would understand that it wasn’t a serious attempt to cause chaos.

“I think it was The Bucks who came up with the idea because it was funny. I remember they asked someone—was it Bishop?—they asked someone, ‘What do you think of that?’ and they just said, ‘Oh, they’re just copying WCW.’ Anyone who criticized it was like, ‘They’re just ripping off DX with WCW.’ And yes, that’s the point, like we’re doing a parody essentially, right? But I want to say it was the Bucks’ idea, ‘Hey, let’s go and invade Raw.’ I remember they planned the whole thing because we had to drive pretty far. I remember flying in, we got flights, hired a limo, all this stuff. I remember driving through the mountains with Cody and Brandy just to get there.

But I thought it was funny because at the time, the Bucks suggested it and I was like, ‘Yes, 100%.’ And Hangman was on board too. I remember Cody being a bit like, ‘How are we gonna do this? I kind of need to know everything before we do it.’ He obviously didn’t want to upset anyone at WWE, and neither did I. I figured they would know what the deal was. It wasn’t like we were actually trying to get in and beat people up or anything.

At one point, they were so close to getting into the building that they even had the driver turn left, heading toward the entrance. For a moment, everyone thought they were really going to invade RAW, but security quickly stopped them, as the plan wasn’t to do it during the show. Scurll reflected that maybe it would have worked better if they had done it during RAW, but they also realized that doing so could have caused problems with their contracts with Ring of Honor and New Japan.

The situation escalated when they learned about Triple H’s reaction as he had sent a text to everyone in WWE, warning them about the invasion. Despite this, Jimmy Jacobs came out to greet them. They hung out with him briefly, and Scurll even mentioned that Jacobs took a selfie with them. Unfortunately, Jacobs was fired for his involvement in the incident, which Scurll felt bad about, as it wasn’t his fault.

“You know, we stood outside the building, and at one point, we had to make a left turn to get into the building. We’re coming toward it, and we’re like, ‘Driver, turn left, turn left!’ The driver turned left, basically going into the building, and everyone was like, ‘Oh no, this is real now. We’re gonna invade Raw.’ But then security came out and told us we couldn’t come in.

It wasn’t during Raw, though, it was before the show. In hindsight, we should’ve maybe done it while Raw was on because for them, it would’ve been amazing TV to just let us in and go to the ring and do whatever. In fact, we probably would’ve gotten in trouble with Ring of Honor and New Japan if we’d done that. But yeah, then we found out that Jimmy Jacobs was involved. We have friends in WWE, and we found out through them. I think it was Triple H who texted everyone, basically saying, ‘These guys are outside, don’t engage with them.’ He was not happy at all with what happened.

But then Jimmy Jacobs came out and said hi to us. We hung out with Jimmy for a minute, and I want to say he took a selfie with us. Yeah, he got fired for that, which I felt really bad about. I thought that kind of sucked.”

The Bullet Club have now been divided into numerous sections in NJPW and other promotions but fans will always remember the days of the original Bullet Club and their antics and that’s all that matters to them.
