Wade Barrett remains one of the most beloved figures in WWE as he is currently a mainstay of WWE television as part of the commentary team on Monday Night RAW. While he hasn’t competed inside he squared circle in a long time, it appears WWE is interested in having him engage in a short program.
Since Triple H took over WWE’s creative direction in July 2022, several wrestlers have made their comebacks, making fans wonder if Barrett, who last competed in 2016, might also return to the ring.
On WrestleVotes Radio’s Backstage Pass, JoeyVotes and TC touched on WWE’s interest in reviving a major feud for Drew McIntyre. WWE is considering bringing back Wade Barrett for a short-term feud, despite Barrett currently working as a commentator on RAW alongside Joe Tessitore.
While WWE isn’t looking for Barrett to return as a full-time wrestler, sources indicate a strong interest in a temporary in-ring comeback for the former Nexus leader, specifically to face McIntyre.
Barrett last wrestled in the ring on April 4, 2016, in the RAW edition, and he’s said to be in great shape. Barrett even previously made it clear he would come back as an in-ring competitor just to face Drew McIntyre, so we will have to wait and see whether that will happen in the end, as fans would love to see Barrett wrestle again.
