The New Day Hated Original Ring Gear Wore Upon Debut Back in 2014

The New Day is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic and decorated factions in the history of WWE. Originally comprising the trio of Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, the faction will be completing ten years in the company with a huge celebration planned for them on Monday Night RAW.

After the three New Day members struggled to find their footing individually, WWE decided to put them together in 2014 to create an iconic stable that has lasted to this date. However, the trio revealed a surprising detail from the time of their debut.

In a video released by WWE on Instagram, Big E, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston can be seen reacting to one of their old entrances. The trio, who is known to don some of the most compelling and iconic outfits over the last ten years, revealed that they hated their original ring gear, which was light blue in colour with their New Day logo design pattern.

Big E stated that all three members had a major dislike for their original ring gear, and it was the only outfit that was not designed by their long-time costume designer and friend, Jonathan Davenport.

“This was our original gear, we don’t care for it, we do not hold up very well. This was our only set of gear that was not designed by the myth, the legend, Jonathan Davenport, our dear dear friend.”

Meanwhile, Kofi Kingston stated that it was an “awful set of gear”, while Xavier Woods agreed with him, stating, “It’s real bad.” Regardless, The New Day evolved with their outfits in the years that came and became a real trendsetter in the world of professional wrestling.

While Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods continue to carry on the faction’s legacy after Big E’s neck injury, there has been a plan set for them amidst massive breakup rumours. With tensions escalating between them every week on RAW, we will have to wait and see if the duo will eventually split or not.
