NXT took place at the 2300 Arena for their November 6 episode of the show and it was truly a memorable show from start to finish. This included Nunzio making an appearance on the show and he has now revealed how it came together.
The Family was spotted in Philadelphia, where they had a tense encounter with ECW veterans Tony Mamaluke and Nunzio. The two former ECW stars were unhappy with The Family’s disrespectful attitude toward them. This led to Nunzio challenging Tony D’Angelo for the NXT North American Championship. The match was brief, with D’Angelo ultimately coming out on top.
While speaking on Ten Count Media, Nunzio was asked how his NXT appearance came together. Nunzio revealed that he got a call out of the blue, asking if he would like to be a part of the show, and he said yes. They mentioned they’d also call Tony D’Angelo with some ideas, and everything came together smoothly—he said timing was perfect.
Looking back, it was a one-time thing, but he enjoyed being back. He got to see some old friends and meet some of the new guys he recognized from watching the show. It was a good experience for him and for everyone involved.
“I mean, they do the Italian gimmick down there, you know, and they were doing a show at the Arena. They were bringing some guys back, and they gave me a call out of the blue and asked if I was interested in doing it. I said, ‘Yeah.’ They said, ‘We’re going to give Tony a call too, and we have some ideas.’ We took it from there, and it just worked out perfectly—timing is everything.
Looking back, it was a one-and-done, but it was a good time, and it was nice to be back. Nice to see the guys. I mean, a couple of the guys I knew, and a lot of them I know by face because I see them on TV—I watch the show—but it was nice getting to meet some of them. It was a good time, a good time for everybody.”
Fans were certainly happy to see Nunzio back on WWE television after so long and it remains to be seen whether the company will have him come back for another appearance in the future, as fans would definitely love that as well.
