Vader had an impressive career even before entering WWE as he accomplished a lot in Japan and other companies before joining Vince McMahon’s company. He passed away back in 2018 but it appears Jim Johnston had no idea about that.

Vader was a top monster heel to a generation of fans who grew up watching him in WCW and NJPW and he rightfully received his WWE Hall of Fame induction back in 2022, something that many fans celebrated.

While speaking in an interview with Hannibal TV, Jim Johnston talked about Vader and suddenly asked what happened to him, making it clear he had no idea Vader passed away in 2018.

Jim Johnston was surprised to find out Vader had passed away and he felt bad when he came to know that he passed away from heart problems. Johnston commented on how tough wrestling can be on the body, especially with all the traveling and the physical demands in the ring.

“Yeah, whatever happened to him? Really? Oh, that’s too bad. Oh, really? Geez, that’s too bad. It’s tough on those guys’ bodies. Holy crow, it’s a tough life on the road and what they put their bodies through in the ring.”

For the record, even Nikki Bella had completely forgotten or not known the fact that Vader passed away as she claimed she couldn’t wait to hear Vader’s Hall of Fame speech back in 2022. Regardless, Vader’s contributions to pro wrestling will never be forgotten and that’s all that matters in the end.
