Ricochet, a wrestling star who made waves in WWE from 2018 until his departure earlier this year, is now firmly planted in AEW and making an impact. However, the shift hasn’t come without controversy. Recently, Ricochet took to Twitter for a no-holds-barred rant aimed at WWE loyalists who have turned on him since he joined AEW.
In a series of now-deleted tweets, Ricochet expressed disappointment with fans who once supported him but now flood social media with criticism simply because he’s changed promotions.
“It’s really funny to me how a lot of people used to love me under the tutelage of WWE but the moment I jump ship to another company they turn their backs on me like why? I don’t get it I’m still the same f** person I was in and outside of the WWE, who the f are you?” he vented.
The high-flying wrestler, known for his acrobatic and daring in-ring style, also called out the “toxicity” of social media, emphasizing how it has affected not just him but also his wife, Samantha Irvin.
“This app is so filled with the most brain-rotted dumbasses (WWE shills) that I’m seriously considering leaving this f* s* app, like the toxicity can’t be good for any of you, especially to those who constantly harass my wife,” Ricochet wrote.
Ricochet didn’t hold back, going as far as telling his detractors and even some former supporters,
“So anyways for the cretins who randomly started opposing me; hell even the people that supported me all throughout no matter what go f*** yourselves. I don’t trust any of you.”
The former WWE star voiced frustration with double standards in wrestling, particularly how fans who once admired his wife now criticize her. He also reflected on his career, noting that he was universally respected on the independent circuit before joining WWE, a time when he felt truly accepted for his wrestling skills.
“You can say AEW is a stain on the industry all you want, but this is the company that has actually accepted me as I am—a professional wrestler, and the best at that,” he stated.
Ricochet is currently gearing up for a significant match against Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Dynasty in January 2025, but these recent posts showed that he’s not afraid to voice his frustrations about the wrestling community’s reactions. While the candid outburst raised eyebrows, many of his loyal fans are standing by him and understand where he’s coming from.
