Ricochet, who transitioned from being a solid mid-card talent in WWE to a mainstay in AEW this year, is once again at the center of social media controversy. Known for his spectacular high-flying in-ring abilities, Ricochet has struggled to win over a segment of fans who view him as thin-skinned and overly defensive online. This perception intensified after a series of recent Twitter rants and his subsequent denial.
The drama began when Ricochet, frustrated by criticism from fans who turned on him after his move to AEW, allegedly shared now-deleted tweets calling out the hypocrisy. “It’s really funny to me how a lot of people used to love me under the tutelage of WWE but the moment I jump ship to another company they turn their backs on me like why? I don’t get it I’m still the same f** person I was in and outside of the WWE, who the f*** are you?” he posted.
He didn’t stop there. Ricochet expressed the toll social media toxicity has taken, not just on him but on his wife, Samantha Irvin, who also exited WWE recently. “This app is so filled with the most brain-rotted dumbasses (WWE shills) that I’m seriously considering leaving this f* s* app, like the toxicity can’t be good for any of you, especially to those who constantly harass my wife,” the alleged tweets revealed.
After these tweets were allegedly deleted and Ricochet quickly went into damage control mode, claiming they were fabricated. “Bahahaha this is fake,” he tweeted. But fans weren’t buying it. Instead, they swarmed his post, criticizing him for denying the rant and questioning his focus.
One fan quipped, “If only you put in the amount of effort you do in complaining and crying on x into your promos maybe you’d be loved more.” Another harshly suggested, “Rios*** needs to retire.”
More fans piled on, with one urging, “Please get off Twitter, man,” and another offering advice: “If you spent less time arguing with randoms on Twitter and more time focusing on the positive things people say about you, you’d be so much happier.”
Despite Ricochet’s denial, his response further fueled the backlash. While some sympathize with his frustrations, others see it as another chapter in a series of social media missteps. With Ricochet’s high-profile match against Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Dynasty in January 2025 on the horizon, fans and critics alike will be watching to see if he shifts his focus from online battles to the ring.
