The Rock is looking back on his impactful return to WWE and his new role as a board member of TKO Group Holdings.
Earlier this year, in January 2024, TKO appointed The Rock to their Board of Directors, marking a significant milestone in the wrestling icon’s storied career. The Rock then made his WWE comeback on the February 2 episode of WWE SmackDown, setting the stage for a series of appearances leading to WrestleMania XL.
At WrestleMania XL Night One, The Rock joined forces with Roman Reigns to take down Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, thrilling fans and proving that his in-ring prowess is as electrifying as ever. His return run concluded on the Raw episode following WrestleMania, although he made a surprise appearance at WWE Bad Blood before stepping away from the spotlight.
During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Rock shared insights on his return and how it felt to be back in the wrestling world that shaped his legacy. Reflecting on the experience, Johnson said, “I had such a great time. Cody and Seth and Roman, it was just wild. I grew up in that world of pro wrestling. There’s nothing like when that music hits and the crowd goes crazy.”
Jimmy Fallon noted that The Rock’s WWE performances felt like a homecoming, to which Johnson responded, “That’s a good way to put it. I grew up in the world of pro wrestling, and I followed the careers of my grandfather and my dad. My grandfather and my dad used to wrestle up here at [Madison Square Garden] in the ‘70s, and here I come along, not trying to screw anything up with their legacy. Then all of a sudden, the business has grown into what it’s grown into. TKO now owns WWE, and I have the honor of sitting on the board of TKO. What a full-circle moment.”
Johnson, who famously started his career with just seven dollars in his pocket, joked, “I started with seven bucks, and now… Fallon said it’s not, now it’s not seven bucks [laughs].”
While fans are eagerly awaiting his next move, as of now, there is no confirmed date for The Rock’s return to WWE programming.
