Grayson Waller has become one of WWE’s most outspoken heels, and his passion for Australia is well-known. However, despite his strong connection to his home country, he seems to doubt that WWE will ever hold WrestleMania there.
WrestleMania, WWE’s biggest event, is known for its spectacular nature and worldwide popularity, and that’s why fans always wonder whether it will take place in any international venue. London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan previously expressed a keen interest in bringing the event to the UK capital but fans also want to see WrestleMania being held in someplace like Australia.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Grayson Waller was asked if he believes WrestleMania will ever take place in Australia. Grayson Waller stated that he feels WrestleMania will likely never take place in Australia. He explained that the time zone difference would make it very challenging, especially with the logistical effort of flying everything needed for the show. WrestleMania is WWE’s biggest event, and they want it to reach the widest audience, which makes holding it in Australia a difficult process.
While he acknowledges how huge it was to have events like the Elimination Chamber in Australia, he doesn’t see WrestleMania happening there in the near future. However, he still believes Australia has a chance to host other major WWE events, and he’s heard rumors that WWE might return there soon. He also pointed out that with so many Australian talent in WWE now—such as Rhea Ripley, Duke Hudson, Zaria, Bronson Reed, and himself—Australia could almost host a full event with local stars.
“If I have to be honest, no, Australia, I’m sorry, it’s not going to happen. The time zone is rough, and I get that. WrestleMania is such a big show—it’s our showcase, and we want the most eyes on it. I think in Australia, that would be a very difficult process, especially with flying everything down. It’s a big effort. But I think having something like the Elimination Chamber there is massive. I don’t think people realize how big it was. That show sets up WrestleMania; all the things that happen on that show lead into the biggest show of the year.
So for me, I don’t think WrestleMania will ever be in Australia. Would I love it to happen? Obviously, it would mean the world to me, but I’m realistic. I think Australia has the opportunity to have way more big shows. I’ve heard some whispers that we might be heading back somewhat soonish, and I think I’d rather have us stand alone and say, ‘Hey, this is Australia, and this is what we do.’ We have so many Aussies in WWE right now that we could almost fill a show with Australians. We’ve got Zaria, Rhea, Duke, Bronson, Indi, and me—that’s almost a full card.”
It is to be noted that WWE is currently in talks to hold a major event in Australia next year. Regardless, Grayson Waller’s views might shock some fans but he was likely being realistic, as WrestleMania may never take place in Australia for a variety of reasons.
