Grayson Waller and Austin Theory have been paired up for several months now and they have seen a lot of success so far, but Waller has now admitted that he is sick of how humble Theory is.
The former tag team champions have experienced some tension in recent months, with both men vying for leadership within the group and often making decisions on their own, as WWE continued to tease them breaking up. So far, they are on the same page but that may not last forever.
While speaking to Chris Van Vliet, Grayson Waller admitted he’s frustrated with how humble Austin Theory is. He acknowledged that Theory is a nice guy and very respectful, always wanting to sign photos and be nice to fans, especially the kids. However, Waller pointed out that this attitude sometimes makes him sick because, in his eyes, they need to be focused and do whatever it takes to be the best.
Waller feels Theory, who tends to be more of a “company guy” and wants to do things the right way, is more like John Cena than he admits. Waller, on the other hand, doesn’t care about signing autographs or being that nice. He’s focused on himself and the team, and right now, that means being all-in with Austin Theory, regardless of who gets in their way. While he agrees with Cena that Theory is a good guy, he feels that Theory’s humble nature sometimes holds them back.
“He is such a nice guy, and I’m not saying you’re not—no, no, no, you’re 100% right. This is the thing: there was that big situation with the promo he did with Cena, and people looked at it a certain way. I was like, Cena is 100% right about Austin Theory. Austin Theory is a good guy, he’s super humble, he’s super respectful. You’ve met him today. It makes me sick sometimes, ’cause I’m like, I love that you do that. You want to sign the photos, you want to be nice to all the kids, and all that type of thing.
But we need to lock in. We got to do whatever it takes to be the best here, and I think that’s where we differ in opinion. He wants to do things the right way. He wants to be that company guy, he wants to sign all the autographs, and I think he’s more like John Cena than he’d like to admit. Whereas, I couldn’t care less about any of that. I’m just here for me. And right now we’re a tag team, so I’m here for me and Austin Theory. I don’t care who’s in our way. So, Cena was right about Austin Theory. He’s a good guy, but sometimes that gets us into trouble.”
Grayson Waller even admitted he didn’t expect to have long-term plans with Austin Theory. Regardless, we’ll have to wait and see whether Waller will end up betraying Theory somewhere down the line, as anything could happen.
