The Undertaker has seen it all in his storied career, and on the latest episode of his Six Feet Under podcast, he opened up about WWE’s monumental evolution over the past two decades. The wrestling icon reflected on how the company has transformed from being seen as a fringe act to a globally respected entertainment powerhouse.
“From when I started to where we’re at now, it’s completely different. The way it’s perceived is different. The magnitude of the events are different, sponsors are different. All of this has happened within the last 20 years,” The Undertaker said, noting how WWE now sits alongside the likes of the NFL, MLB, and NBA in terms of cultural impact and prestige.
He added, “I think we are finally on that level where we’re not considered kind of like a sideshow circus kind of deal. It’s good, it’s good to know that I was part of that development of that system.”
The Deadman expressed pride in being part of WWE’s journey, highlighting the rigorous path talent now must take to make it into the Performance Center (PC)—a system designed to scout and develop only the best, akin to how the NFL selects top college players.
“But yeah, in the last 20 years, we’ve really turned the page from kind of the sideshow deal to a major entertainment genre,” he concluded, emphasizing WWE’s hard-earned legitimacy in the world of sports and entertainment.
The Undertaker’s reflections highlight just how far WWE has come, evolving from its early days as a niche attraction to being considered a premier entertainment entity on par with major sports leagues. With this shift, the company has solidified its place as a dominant force in global entertainment, thanks in part to legendary figures like The Undertaker who paved the way for this transformation.
