QT Marshall has opened up about a little-known story in the world of wrestling—why MJF was turned down by WWE Hall of Famer Diamond Dallas Page when he requested to use the iconic Diamond Cutter.
Speaking on Hey! (EW), QT shared the details surrounding his use of the move, which has become his signature finisher in recent years.
Marshall, who even teamed up with DDP in All Elite Wrestling, expressed pride in carrying on the tradition of the Diamond Cutter. “I actually enjoy when people say the diamond cutter handed down from Diamond Dallas Page because people hate it. They hate that of all the professional wrestlers in the world, he chose me. So, I want to keep putting that out to the world. So… for those fans out there watching, DDP chose me. Could have been MJF, could have been anyone else. He chose me,” Marshall said.
QT dropped the bombshell that MJF, one of AEW’s top stars, had asked DDP for permission to use the move but was denied. “In fact, MJF asked for it, and he said no,” Marshall revealed, emphasizing how special it felt to be trusted with DDP’s famous finisher.
While MJF didn’t get the Diamond Cutter, he hasn’t been left without a signature edge. The former AEW World Champion has weaponized the Dynamite Diamond Ring to his advantage numerous times, using it as a powerful tool in the ring.
