WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle had an incredible career, with an impressive rookie year that quickly made him a wrestling legend. Although he no longer competes in the ring, it appears AEW has offered him a couple of deals in the past.
Angle hasn’t competed in the ring for over five years as his last match was against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, which turned out to be his final bout, and he has never competed since then.
While speaking on Inside the Ropes, Kurt Angle was asked if he was ever interested in working with AEW. The WWE Hall of Fame revealed that AEW approached him with a couple of deals in the past. Angle heard that Tony Khan has great admiration for him, though he’s unsure how accurate that impression is. He noted that AEW offered him two different contracts, but both were related to in-ring wrestling, which he ultimately knew he couldn’t commit to.
“AEW did offer me a couple of times. Tony Khan absolutely adores me, from what I heard—I don’t know if that’s true or not. But they did offer me two different deals, and, unfortunately, they both had to do with wrestling, and I knew I couldn’t do it.”
Kurt Angle also recently revealed that he never received a dime for the “ANGLE” documentary on Peacock. Regardless, fans will always feel it’s a shame Angle never made his way to AEW but there’s nothing that can be done about that anymore
