Despite taking a surprising TK Driver from The Young Bucks back in April, which left him in a neck brace, AEW President Tony Khan has no plans to step into the ring for an actual match. While Khan’s unexpected in-ring moment alongside The Young Bucks, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada on AEW Dynamite in April had fans buzzing, he’s made it clear that it was a rare occurrence.

During an appearance on Levack and Goz, Khan addressed whether he would consider wrestling in AEW. “I still don’t think that is in the cards,” he said. “A lot of the best wrestlers in the world are in AEW. ‘Where the best wrestle’ is our tagline, and I want to keep it that way and keep myself out of the ring.”

Since the April attack, Khan has stayed mostly behind the scenes, focusing on running AEW and ensuring the company continues to live up to its tagline, “Where the best wrestle.” While some fans might hope to see him step between the ropes again, Khan seems content with keeping the spotlight on the wrestlers themselves.

Khan’s stance on staying out of the ring proves he’s serious about keeping the spotlight on AEW’s elite roster. Even after taking a TK Driver that had fans buzzing and left him in a neck brace, he’s doubling down on his decision to focus solely on running the company. Whether or not we ever see him throw down in an official match, it’s clear that Tony is all about putting AEW first and letting the pros shine.
