WWE’s Independent Development (WWE ID) program is rapidly growing, and the momentum shows no signs of slowing down.

On November 9, WWE introduced Marcus Mathers and Sam “Hardway” Holloway as the latest prospects, following a segment filmed with wrestling icon William Regal. But Regal isn’t the only familiar face involved in the program—Fightful Select has reported that Timothy Thatcher is also contributing, believed to be taking on a coaching or training role.

“We’re told that Regal isn’t the only former WWE talent involved. Fightful Select is told that Timothy Thatcher is involved in what is believed to be some sort of coaching or training capacity.”

Sources indicate that WWE has plans to unveil even more familiar names under the WWE ID umbrella. The program isn’t limited to new talent; it will also encompass independent wrestlers who have previously been signed to major promotions, as long as they’re deemed a good fit for WWE’s vision.

“From what we understand the ID program will also extend to talent who are on the indies who have been signed to major companies in the past, assuming they’re a good fit.”

These contracts and agreements were set in motion some time ago, with some of the newly signed talent having already completed dates with AEW or ROH before fully transitioning into their WWE ID roles.

As for the specifics of these deals, including rules and boundaries, more details are still being sought. Fans can expect updates as the structure of the WWE ID program continues to take shape.
