AEW has a lot of things in the pipeline, and they wanted to figure out a way to promote their events for this month. Tony Khan happened to pick a very interesting way to get it done, and fans noticed in a big way.
Tony Khan tweeted out during AEW’s battle with NXT this week to use an old ECW pay-per-view name. In the end, NXT’s viewership won the night, but Khan tried to garner more attention during the show.
This was noticed by a lot of fans, especially because of the fact that AEW was running a show against NXT, who was at the 2300 Arena. The fact that he used the November To Remember name to plug AEW’s schedule was a bold move indeed.
“This will be an @AEW November To Remember, and you won’t want to miss the action, either live in person at an arena near you, or on @AEWonTV on TBS + TNT! Thank you all watching Wednesday Night #AEWDynamite live TONIGHT on @TBSNetwork right NOW!”
“You’re an ECW fan and it shows,” one fan observed in the replies. “He’s never even taken aew to the ECW Arena meanwhile his show is going to get annihilated by NXT at the ECW Arena,” another fan responded.
Another fan remarked to say, “WWE is about to bring back December to Dismember at the Hammerstein Ballroom after seeing this.” While one fan saw the bright side of this, because Taz must be happy to see November To Remember return in some way, “Taz will be proud of November To Remember being re-introduced. I’m sure he had a smile on his face tonight.”
Many fans had differing opinions, but one fan was quite blunt as they stated, “Tony Khan, I will definitely miss it. I have a recommendation for you: consider compiling the roster list and start the process of dismissing those who will not aid in the development of your company, rather than resigning individuals who will not create any momentum.”
We will have to see what AEW does next to promote their upcoming events. It is apparent that November To Remember wasn’t off limits when it came to copyrights. It will be very interesting to see if that changes in the not-too-distant future.
