Hulk Hogan’s story in pro wrestling has been an interesting one. If that Chris Hemsworth movie is ever made, it would be certainly full of peaks and valleys. It turns out that Hogan’s forced departure from WWE may have been on The Rock.

For years, Hulk Hogan was ostracized from the pro wrestling business after he was abruptly removed as a judge on Tough Enough mid-season and his name was removed from WWE history. This came after he made some racist remarks, and they surfaced thanks to a secretly recorded session with Bubba the Love Sponge’s wife. Brutus Beefcake remembers how it was The Rock who took great offense to those words from Hulk Hogan.

While speaking to Inside The Ropes, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake explained that someone once called him from WWE Headquarters and told him that he was getting into the WWE Hall of Fame as a prank. This was unfortunate, because Beefcake’s whole family heard this fake news before he was told about it. Then his actual induction was used for a very interesting reason by Hulk Hogan.

“Hogan had his problems. Hogan pissed The Rock off so bad by using the N-word and saying some real stupid sh*t. They took him out of the Hall of Fame, they took him off of the books. He was shunned from the company, and when I did finally get the call to be in the Hall of Fame for real, I requested that he would induct me.”

Beefcake then stated that Hulk Hogan used his WWE Hall of Fame induction to “get his foot back in the door.” Once Hulk Hogan broke the ice with WWE in his first appearance since he was shunned, that opened the door for more appearances down the line.

It seems that The Rock may have been a big reason why Hulk Hogan was ejected from WWE as he was. At this stage in the game, things are very interesting, because Dwayne Johnson is now on the board of directors for TKO Group Holdings.

The Rock has made recent appearances for WWE television, to remind everyone that The Final Boss is watching. The same cannot be said about Hulk Hogan at this point, but only time will tell what the future holds.
