The Motor City Machine Guns have been together since 2007, and Triple H is seemingly making up for lost time with their huge booking so far. After beating The Bloodline for their tag titles, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin are off to an amazing start with WWE, but they need challengers for those titles.
During the November 8 WWE SmackDown, Sabin and Shelley were slated to have their first outing on a WWE talk show, and Grayson Waller was happy to host that moment in pro wrestling history. With Austin Theory by his side, A-Town Down Under were set to play typical heels to get under the fans’ skin.
Interestingly enough, Nick Aldis announced before the show that the Motor City Machine Guns were going to defend their titles against Theory and Waller instead. That was a swerve that nobody expected for them, but A-Town Down Under were very ready for the challenge.
The Motor City Machine Guns were praised in a big way on commentary, and they fought against A-Town Down Under in expert fashion. That being said, Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin still sold for Austin Theory and Grayson Waller to keep the match competitive. That being said, the Guns didn’t show down as they exhibited the kind of offense that made them famous for years.
Theory and Waller are also former tag team champions, and the two were determined to regain those titles. They put up a fight as they isolated Alex Shelley for a bit, but they couldn’t score a pinfall.
In the end, The Motor City Machine Guns nailed the Skull And Bones double team move on Grayson Waller, and they won the match to retain their titles. This was a great way for them to start their reign as they continue proving themselves to the WWE Universe.
After that match was over, the Street Profits approached the Motor City Machine Guns and #DIY as they were chatting backstage. Tommaso Ciampa wants a shot at those WWE Tag Team Titles, but the Street Profits have first dibs.
Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins revealed that they will get a shot at the Motor City Machine Guns’ title on the November 15 episode of WWE SmackDown next week.
The Motor City Machine Guns are one of wrestling’s most successful tag teams around, and they finally made it to WWE. Their WWE debut has been long awaited. In TNA, they won the World Tag Team Championship three times and the X Division Championship a combined 11 times. Both Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley have held the World Championship. They also won the Gauntlet for the Gold in 2008 and received multiple TNA Year-End Awards.
Now that we know the Motor City Machine Guns’ direction in WWE, it makes things very interesting. After all, having them break onto the scene in a tournament where they became tag team champions was also a huge surprise.
