Brutus Beefcake is truly a legend in the world of professional wrestling as he has accomplished a lot during his career. As is the case with any pro wrestler, he didn’t get along with a few big names in the business and that includes Hulk Hogan. In fact, Beefcake recently made a bold claim about Hogan’s career.

While speaking to Inside the Ropes, Brutus Beefcake was asked why he never made his way back to WWE alongside Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash and the others after WCW was sold to WWE. Beefcake said he wasn’t sure why Hogan didn’t want him there, but it seemed like Hogan didn’t try to help him. Even though Hogan had Vince McMahon’s ear, he never spoke up for Beefcake, and he didn’t do anything to support him. Whatever Hogan suggested, that’s what WWE went with, but Beefcake felt left out.

“I don’t know. I think in a way, Hogan just didn’t want me to be there. I don’t know why, but he just, you know, he didn’t help. He didn’t put in a word, he didn’t do anything for me at all. And he had Vince’s ear, so whatever he would suggest, whatever he said, that’s what they were doing. So, I don’t know what happened, but he didn’t help.”

When asked if being with Hogan over the years helped him, Beefcake explained that in the beginning, he was the one who helped launch Hogan’s career. He was the one driving, training, working out, and taking care of everything for Hogan so he could stay at the top. Beefcake thought if he hadn’t been there, Hogan’s career might not have taken off as it did. He was always there for him, month after month, year after year.

Beefcake also said that his wife told him he was underestimating his role in helping Hogan. She pointed out that it wasn’t Hogan helping him, but him helping Hogan. After thinking about it, Beefcake realized his wife was right, and he had a bigger role in Hogan’s success than he first realized.

“People don’t understand that coming up in those early years, I was the factor that helped get Hogan launched to where he was making money. I was the one who drove every day, I was the one who led the workouts in the gym, trained every day, went and got food, did everything to help him be a top guy. And I don’t know what may have happened if I hadn’t been there all those years—delivering for him, feeding him, training him, taking care of him day after day, month after month, year after year, always being there, always on the spot. If I hadn’t been there, it might have gone a whole lot differently, you know? And my wife, the one who really told me that one day, said, ‘You know, it’s really crazy, but you way underestimate yourself. You helped him. It wasn’t like he helped you. You actually helped him.’ And after I thought about it for a while, I was like, ‘God Almighty, you’re right. You’re really right.'”

Hulk Hogan is obviously one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling but Brutus Beefcake simply feels people don’t value his own involvement in making Hogan the star that he was. Regardless, it’s unlikely Beefcake and Hogan will be on great terms anytime soon.
