NJPW has revealed the main event for the highly anticipated Wrestle Kingdom 19 at the Tokyo Dome on January 4, 2025.

Following the Power Struggle 2024 event, where Zack Sabre Jr. successfully defended his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against Shingo Takagi, the stage is set for a showdown between Sabre Jr. and Shota Umino.

After Sabre Jr.’s intense match against Takagi, Shota Umino entered the ring to a chorus of boos and confronted the champion, laying down a challenge for the prestigious title. Umino’s confidence isn’t without merit—he earned his spot in this title match by defeating Sabre Jr. during the G1 Climax 34 tournament and securing a significant win over SANADA at Power Struggle on November 4.

New Japan Pro Wrestling confirmed on November 6 that the clash between Sabre Jr. and Umino will headline Wrestle Kingdom 19. The stakes are high for Sabre Jr., who has already been put on notice for another potential title defense. Should he retain his championship at Wrestle Kingdom, he will face AEW star Ricochet at Wrestle Dynasty on January 5.
