The Street Profits, the team of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, worked hard to become one of the mainstays of WWE’s tag team division. With that said, Ford has been venting frustrations regarding his booking in WWE and he has now been urged to make his own break.
Monez Ford also previously stated that he wants to become WWE Champion if The Street Profits break up. The Rock also gave Montez very encouraging message in the past that helped his confidence in a big way.
In fact, Montez Ford recently hinted at pursuing a solo career while he expressed frustration over The Street Profits’ current booking in the company.
While speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T shared his view that Triple H still has high hopes for Montez Ford. Booker believes that Ford might need to leave behind certain elements of his current gimmick and figure out when to transition from his tag team to pursue a singles career and find his own break.
Reflecting on his own experience, Booker mentioned his nine-year tag team run with his brother, during which he focused on making the team the best it could be before eventually breaking out on his own. He feels Ford is in a strong position to go solo when the time is right and still has plenty of potential left in his career if handled correctly.
“Well, get rid of that damn cup. That might help, you know, and Tez is one of my guys, man. I like him. He’s an extraordinary talent, but you got to know how to break out. You got to know how to make your own breaks. I was with my brother in a tag team for nine years. Was I thinking about making a break and doing things on my own?
Was I capable of doing that? Yeah! I said, ‘Yeah, I could do that’. But I was happy where I was, and I always wanted to make that the best until it wasn’t nothing left to do there, but I think Tez is in a great spot to where he finally does go singles. It’ll be… you still have a lot of like we were talking about earlier a lot of bumps left on his bump card if we do this thing right.”
We will have to wait and see whether Montez Ford will eventually break away from his current position and pursue a singles run in WWE, as many fans feel it’s long overdue at this point in time.
