WWE fans were surprised to see Indi Hartwell get her release from the company, because they had even taped an appearance for SmackDown that hadn’t even aired at that point. Now she has 90 days of a non-compete clause to go through, but she has already made a big impression on the WWE Universe.
Throughout Indi Hartwell’s WWE career, she was part of The Way alongside Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae, and they shared a close bond both on and off the screen. To this day, Gargano sees something special in his on-screen daughter.
In an interview with Alistair McGeorge of Metro, Johnny Gargano shared his thoughts on Hartwell’s release. Hartwell means a lot to them, so seeing her go is going to hurt. That being said, she has a lot of things that she’s capable of achieving outside WWE.
“Obviously everybody knows what Indi means to me and Candice, we absolutely love and we absolutely believe in her. We still do believe that she’s so incredibly young, I think she’s got a lot to offer the wrestling world, and I am very excited to see what she shows the wrestling world. I think she’s got untapped personality, untapped potential. I think when she’s able to finally show that to the world, people are gonna latch on.”
Reflecting on his own return to WWE, Gargano expressed his hope that Hartwell might also find her way back someday. “It worked out for me and Candice. Hopefully she ends up back here, but you never know,” he added.
We will have to see what Indi Hartwell does next. She may have some visa issues, but if she’s able to find a contract with a pro wrestling company in the United States, that would certainly help her stay around.
Indi Hartwell quoted Dr. Suess with her first statement after her release. She went on to provide a lot more insight, but others have also spoken for her. She will certainly be missed in WWE, but you also never know where her road may take the former NXT Women’s Champion.
