WWE NXT has experienced significant growth over the past year, with stronger characters and storylines elevating the brand to new heights. This week, WWE is set to air a special episode of NXT, and it seems the CW Network has high hopes for the show’s performance.
WWE announced that NXT will take place on Wednesday, November 6, at Philadelphia’s 2300 Arena, the historic venue formerly known as the ECW Arena. The event will air live on The CW at 8 pm ET, building considerable excitement among fans.
NXT General Manager Ava revealed during the Halloween Havoc event that Dawn Marie will be appearing on the November 6th episode of NXT. On top of that, ECW legends Rob Van Dam and Francine are also scheduled to make special appearances, adding to the nostalgic excitement surrounding the show.
WrestleVotes reports that a source within The CW expects tonight’s ECW-themed episode of NXT to be the highest-rated since its debut on the network last month, even with it airing on a Wednesday night. This optimism comes despite strong competition from AEW’s lineup on TBS, which includes a high-profile match between Adam Cole and Malakai Black. However, with extensive political coverage expected to dominate the night, ratings for both shows might not be the main focus.
“We’re told a source within The CW expects tonight’s ECW-themed NXT to be the highest-rated episode since the network debut last month, despite airing on a Wednesday night. Time will tell, as AEW presents a strong lineup on TBS, featuring Adam Cole vs. Malakai Black among other matches. And yet, with political coverage likely dominating tonight, both numbers will be an afterthought.”
The CW Network was incredibly pleased with the ratings for the debut episode of NXT on their network, as the October 1st episode of NXT secured 895,000 viewers with 0.26 in the coveted 18-49 demographic. Therefore, we’ll have to see if tonight’s edition of NXT will equal that number or at least be close to it.
