Adam Cole made his big return at WrestleDream 2024, and he’s off to the races. His first match back went down last week during AEW Dynamite, as he beat Buddy Matthews, but it didn’t take long for a new challenger popped up.

During the November 6 episode of AEW Dynamite, Malakai Black stepped up to face Adam Cole. The two former NXT Champions had a tense face-to-face last week, and they had a chance to settle things.

This match started off slow as the competitors felt each other out. Black targeted Cole’s wrist as he kept Adam in his control. Cole also did his best to evade any serious attacks, as a simple wrist lock was all Black needed for a while.

They continued as the two competitors went to the outside, and Cole took both of them out with a high risk move that caused them to take a commercial break. The action continued in picture-in-picture form while they got back into the ring, with Black and Cole trading control of the match with strikes.

When we got back from commercial, Malakai Black avoided a second Panama Sunrise from Cole. He reversed the move to get a near fall of his own, so the match carried on.

Cole went for a knee strike without his knee pad on, but Black countered with The End for a two count. That was a very close call. Then Cole finally nailed a Panama Sunrise, but he didn’t get the pinfall.

Finally, Adam Cole nailed his Boom finisher as Malakai Black just sat there. Then he ended the match in clean fashion. This was quite a match, and it marks three wins for Adam Cole. If he gets to three, then he gets that match against MJF at Full Gear.

What’s your take on Adam Cole’s performance since his return from injury?
