Seth Rollins is known as the Visionary of WWE and has made many contributions to the business since he joined over 12 years ago. However, he has now admitted that he is feeling the effects of age and needs to slow down.
Given the wear and tear on Seth Rollins’ body and the injuries he suffered this year, fans are concerned about how long he will be able to compete in the ring, especially at a high level.
While speaking on the Pivot Podcast, Seth Rollins admitted that he is getting older and needs to slow down. He is 37 years old and turning 38 soon, and he sometimes forgets his age, which shows he’s getting older. After 21 years in wrestling, he is working hard to keep his body in good shape.
Rollins’ schedule has gotten easier, which is a good thing for him. Because he has a good relationship with fans, it’s easier for him now than for younger wrestlers who are still trying to make a name for themselves.
Rollins thinks it’s important to stay healthy so he can keep his performances fresh and exciting. He wants to give fans new experiences instead of doing the same things over and over, which can get boring for everyone.
“I’m 37, going on 38, maybe. I’m not even sure—that’s how you know you’re getting old. I think I’ll be 39 next year. Let me do the math real quick. Yeah, I’m 38 now, and I’ll be 39 next year.
I’ve been doing this for 21 years, and I’m trying to keep my body together. The schedule has eased up quite a bit, which is good for me. At this point, I have a lot of equity with our audience, so they appreciate what I do and what I’ve done, which makes my life a bit easier compared to a younger guy trying to make a name for himself.”
With over 2,000 matches behind him, he feels confident in his wrestling skills. However, he knows he can’t perform like he did when he was 21 anymore. While he is still athletic for his age, he doesn’t recover as quickly as he used to. He mentions that turning 35 was a turning point for him, as that’s when he really started to feel the effects of his career. He now understands he can’t take the same risks he once did without thinking about the consequences as age has finally caught up to him.
“I’m focused on staying healthy so I can contribute and keep things fresh for the audience. It’s important to give them something new instead of doing the same thing over and over, which can get boring and isn’t fulfilling as a performer. I want to do things that feel good, fresh, and exciting. With 21 years and over 2,000 matches under my belt, I can handle the wrestling part. However, I’m battling against time. I can’t do what I did when I was 21 anymore; my body just won’t allow it. I’m still fairly athletic for my age, but I don’t recover as fast. I’ll tell you, when I hit 35, that was a turning point for me. They say you’ll feel it one day, and I was like, ‘Nah, I’m fine,’ but at 35, I finally understood. I can’t just throw caution to the wind and dive headfirst in there like I used to.”
We’ll have to wait and see how long Seth Rollins stays active in the ring, as he might have other plans for his career once he retires from professional wrestling. Till then, The Visionary will continue to be one of the most important Superstars in WWE.
