Kenny Omega has been on the shelf for almost a year after undergoing emergency surgery for diverticulitis and fans wondered when he would finally be able to compete inside the squared circle again. Interestingly enough, Omega made it clear he wants to compete in NJPW next year during his Power Struggle appearance.
We had reported that Kenny Omega was set to appear for NJPW in Japan for the first time since New Year Dash 2023 at Power Struggle on November 4th and fans were incredibly excited for what Omega would have to say during the show.
During NJPW Power Struggle, Kenny Omega revealed that he wants to wrestle at AEW x NJPW Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th. He said he’d love to come back to a New Japan ring and face one of NJPW’s new stars, representing AEW. Omega praised NJPW, saying it’s still the best professional wrestling in the world.
“I’d love to come back and I would love to come back in this ring and I would love to come back to face one of these brand new stars that NJPW boasts and I’d love to test myself at Iten Go, January 5th and I’d love to do it representing AEW but I’d love to do it in a New Japan ring because New Japan still is the king of sports and it still is the best professional wrestling on the planet.”
Following his promo, Kenny Omega made his way backstage and was confronted by Gabe Kidd, which led to a brawl between them. Gabe Kidd is currently the NJPW Strong Openweight Champion and this altercation has strongly hinted at Omega facing off against Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty next year.
Kenny Omega was already set to appear at Wrestle Dynasty but fans didn’t know what he would be doing there. Following his brawl with Gabe Kidd, fans are now excited to see whether The Best Bout Machine will make his in-ring return at Wrestle Dynasty at the iconic Tokyo Dome in Japan next year, as it has been far too long since Omega competed inside the squared circle.
