Kenny Omega made a surprise appearance at NJPW Power Struggle, expressing a heartfelt desire to return to New Japan Pro-Wrestling and possibly compete at the AEW x NJPW Wrestle Dynasty event on January 5, 2025. Standing before a live audience, Omega hinted that he’d like to face one of NJPW’s younger talents, although no official match has been set.

Backstage, however, Omega’s intentions were met with hostility. Gabe Kidd ambushed him, sparking an intense brawl that spread across the backstage area. Despite the confrontation, Omega took a moment afterward to reflect on his potential NJPW comeback, delving into his journey and the toll recent struggles have taken on him.

“Yeah. So I went out there not knowing what I was gonna say,” Omega admitted. “Said what I said and I meant what I said. It’s been tough dealing with all of this, the injury, the sickness. But, I feel about ready to come back. For the fans here in Japan, for the fans worldwide, I want to make it something special. I want to come back to the place that made me me.”

Omega expressed deep appreciation for NJPW, recognizing it as the foundation of his success.

“If I do come back, I’d love to come back for New Japan. I’m not who I used to be. I’m not sure what kind of person will be making a comeback, but I’m going to give him my best shot,” he added. Omega cited Hiroshi Tanahashi as an inspiration, saying, “If guys like Tanahashi can go as long as he can go, I need to have that same spirit and fight…until I can’t fight anymore.”

Omega’s words suggest he’s ready to evolve into a new chapter of his career, one fueled by the spirit of competition and the passion he feels in Japan.

“Being here fuels me, being here makes me feel like a different person, makes me feel like I can be the best version of me that I can be,” he concluded. “If you guys are willing to have me, I’d love to come back to New Japan. Until next time, whenever that may be, I bid you all adieu. Goodnight, bang.”

As Omega contemplates his return to NJPW, fans are left wondering what kind of Kenny Omega will step into the ring next. Will he reclaim the dominant persona he held during his NJPW days, or emerge as an entirely new version of himself? Only time will tell.
