WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle has had an illustrious career, with a standout rookie year that solidified his status as a wrestling legend. His life is truly a movie and that’s why documentaries have been made about him but it appears he wasn’t actually paid for the “ANGLE” documentary on Peacock.

Angle hasn’t competed in the ring for over five years as his last match was against Baron Corbin at WrestleMania 35 in 2019, which turned out to be his final bout, and he has never competed since then.

While speaking on the Julian Dorey Podcast, Kurt Angle talked about the “ANGLE” podcast produced by Alex Perry, where Angle explained he didn’t get any money from it. He mentioned that Perry sold the documentary to WWE instead of trying other options like Netflix, which might have helped it reach more people.

WWE put the documentary on Peacock, then it showed up on A&E, and now it’s free to watch on YouTube. Angle was disappointed he didn’t earn anything, even though he thinks others, like Perry and WWE, probably did. Despite these issues, Angle said Perry did a great job on the documentary.

You know what? I got approached for that (‘ANGLE’ documentary) and it was by a young producer in Hollywood. His name was Alex Perry. He was a big wrestling fan and he knew my story and so he said, ‘Listen, I’d love to do a documentary on you,’ and you know, he’s like, ‘We could make a lot of money’ and I thought, okay, I can make some money. By the way, I didn’t get a penny for it so, I didn’t make any money. But, the reason why is because WWE bought it. So, he sold out to WWE when he probably should have shopped it around to Netflix or — so WWE got the documentary and they aired it on Peacock, which isn’t worldwide and I wanted it to reach all over the world because I wanted to help people with addiction.

But, unfortunately, the WWE, all they did with it was show it on Peacock which is fine and then they gave it to A&E to air and then A&E has put it on YouTube. So now, you can look at it for free on YouTube and I didn’t get a dime for it, and I know people made money from it; WWE, I know Alex might’ve made some money but I didn’t make any… He (Alex Perry) did a great job (with the documentary). Yes.

That being said, Kurt Angle has already confirmed that a movie based on his life is already in the works. Nonetheless, it’s truly a shame that the WWE Hall of Famer didn’t earn a dime from the “ANGLE” documentary, as fans felt he more than deserved it.
