Sting and Darby Allin won the AEW Tag Team Championship and successfully defended their titles against The Young Bucks at AEW Revolution. Sting’s sons were involved in this journey, and it was shared that Steven Jr. was training with Darby Allin to become a professional wrestler. Recently, Steven Borden revealed his father’s reaction to his desire to pursue wrestling.
Darby Allin revealed that Steven, Sting’s son and a former football player, had been staying at his house to train as a professional wrestler. Steven has been living in a tent in Allin’s front yard during his training. Although he hadn’t initially thought about a wrestling career, his experience at AEW Revolution inspired him to pursue it. The former TNT Champion recalled discussing the idea with both Sting and Steven, ultimately inviting Steven to train with him. To support his training, Allin has even set up a wrestling ring at his home.
While speaking on The Von Erichs’ YouTube channel, Steven Borden confirmed his training for a pro wrestling career. He noted that performing in front of crowds in wrestling is very different from playing football, explaining that he hadn’t spent much time in a wrestling ring before AEW Revolution. He mentioned that he thinks wrestling might actually be harder than football.
“Much different (performing in front of crowds in football in comparison to wrestling). I’ve hardly ever stepped into a wrestling ring in my life up until Revolution. Again, we just weren’t involved (growing up), and now that I’ve started wrestling training and all that stuff, I’ve had a thought about… there’s a lot of me that thinks a lot of wrestling is harder than football.”
Steven Borden also mentioned what happened when he told his father, Sting, about wanting to wrestle. He revealed that Sting was not happy, and it was a difficult conversation.
“When I told him (Sting) I wanted to wrestle? Uh, no (he was not excited). That was a tough conversation… You guys (Von Erichs) probably got a similar lecture.”
Nonetheless, only time will tell if Steven will emerge as a great professional wrestler like his father since he is definitely taking things seriously by training with the greatest minds in the business and it is likely Sting will eventually approve of his decision as well.
