Liv Morgan and Rhea Ripley have been feuding for months, often involving Dominik Mysterio. Things got intense on NXT when Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez attacked Ripley, which led to the announcement that Ripley would be out due to an injury and now Ripley’s original plans for Crown Jewel have been revealed.
On the October 29 episode of NXT, Rhea Ripley appeared on the show to support Zaria and other NXT Superstars. Later, it was revealed that Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez had attacked Ripley, leaving her injured and requiring medical help.
WWE announced that Ripley suffered a fractured orbital socket from the attack. While this injury was part of the storyline, it is confirmed that Ripley is genuinely hurt and will be taking time off from WWE television to recover.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the original plan for WWE Crown Jewel included a singles match between Rhea Ripley and Raquel Rodriguez. However, after Ripley suffered a fractured right orbital bone on the October 21 Raw—likely from a headbutt—the match was postponed.
With Ripley out of action, it seems the four-way Women’s Tag Team Championship match was added to Crown Jewel as a replacement, as this match was the only new addition following Ripley’s injury. Nonetheless, we’ll have to wait and see when Ripley will make her triumphant return to WWE television, as it might be a while until she can return.
