Jim Ross has dedicated decades of his life to the business and remains a crucial part of AEW. He has worked with several top names during his time in the industry and that includes Triple H and now Jim Ross has set the record straight on rumors that claim that he hates Triple H.
While speaking during a recent Grilling JR episode, Jim Ross talked about Triple H and how he rose to the top, especially when Steve Austin was sidelined with an injury in 1999. Ross praised Triple H, saying he was the only one on the roster who was truly ready to step up as the top star and that he completely earned his place in the spotlight.
“Triple H just earned the spot. I mean, I don’t know who else you would pick out of our roster that was more ready for the spot that Triple H earned than him, than Triple H. He earned his spot and he was really, really good at it.”
Ross also explained that any “hatred” between them was just part of the wrestling story. He said his job was to help build up talent and develop their characters, and he feels they did a great job with Triple H’s character by following his lead.
“I went on a vendetta [as a television character] about him and tried to make him a bigger heel than he was. There’s still people to this very day think that I hate Triple H and he hates me and all that stuff. It’s pro wrestling. Our job is to get talent over and to establish their persona, and I thought we did a nice job of establishing Triple H’s persona that followed his lead on how all that stuff worked out.”
Jim Ross also has no patience for anyone who says he looks old, as he is well aware of that fact and simply doesn’t appreciate being told that as it’s beyond his control. Nonetheless, Jim Ross will always have respect for Triple H and that’s all that matters in the end.
