Cody Rhodes has a special ability to connect with fans, which has been a big factor in his journey to becoming the Undisputed WWE Champion. Known as one of WWE’s top babyfaces, Rhodes has recently hinted that he might be open to a heel turn, creating curiosity among fans about a potential shift in his character.
Although Cody Rhodes is currently a popular babyface, some fans are excited about the possibility of him turning heel again. With his past success in playing a villain, a shift in his character would be well within his capabilities and could add a fresh dynamic to his role in WWE.
While speaking to Cathy Kelley, Cody Rhodes talked about his upcoming match against GUNTHER at WWE Crown Jewel and how The Ring General has criticized him for being political. Cody Rhodes talked about being called political in his actions and hinted that he might become a heel in the future if pushed enough. He said that while some people think he is too focused on being family-friendly or politically correct, he really cares about his fans, especially the kids who relate to his American Nightmare character.
Rhodes mentioned that being a dad has changed how he sees things. He acknowledged that if he feels pushed, he might show a different side of himself, which could lead to him being more aggressive or a bad guy.
“I don’t know if the Internet’s gonna love this answer, but I don’t think he’s that wrong. But I don’t think of it as political. I think about the fans who come in the American Nightmare cosplay and the ones who do the ‘woe.’ And all these little kids and my own daughter at home, and it just changed me. So if it sounds politically correct or if it sounds squeaky clean and PG, I can’t apologize for it.
And also, if you poke me enough, the other side of political comes out, and that’s just bad for everybody—it’s still in there. And I don’t know if Gunther has to go that far to get a reminder from me, but that’s not an insult. I care, it doesn’t bother me, I’ve heard other people say it.”
Even The Undertaker believes Cody Rhodes could be good heel. Regardless, only time will tell if The American Nightmare will embrace his dark side and become a heel again in the future.
